FORBIDDEN is a book on love, can be classified as a Love Tragedy. It has its moments of love, romance, humour and suspense. One can falter in love and the consequences can be devastating not only for the fallen but also for the people around him.
The story revolves around 4 main characters in the book – Karan, Sanjana, Simran and Pooja. Karan is a successful management professional and a squash champion. He is also married, to Sanjana. But Karan is not happy in marriage and seeks for love outside marriage. He meets Simran on a squash court in Abu Dhabi during a tournament and they get attracted to each other. However, after meeting in Abu Dhabi, they decide not to meet again and leave their attraction to destiny.
Destiny does intervene and Karan and Simran happen to end up working in the same company. Pooja is Karan’s colleague and has romantic feelings towards Karan.
The story thus develops into a complex web of emotions with Karan on one side and three women on the other.
One day, Karan mysteriously disappears and the detectives from FOREVER, Rahul and Susan, get involved in solving the mystery. The story also deals with furthering the love kindled between Rahul and Susan during solving their first mystery - FOREVER.
One day news breaks out that Karan’s body has been found in Goa. As the investigations continue, the list of suspects keeps growing and includes Simran, Sanjana, Pooja, Simran’s mother, Pooja’s husband and some goons with whom Karan had a fight, and each one of them have a strong motive to kill Karan. Each of them was present in Goa on the day of the murder.
As the story develops, the pendulum keeps swinging from one suspect to the other, till ultimately the murderer is found.

Just like FOREVER, Rahul ends up writing FORBIDDEN once the case has been solved and it is translated into a book. A part of the book is in Rahul’s narrative and a part of it is in Simran’s narrative as well, capturing entries from her private journal.
FORBIDDEN is a part of Trilogy being written by Rajiv Shah covering complicated love emotions and equations across various age-groups. While FOREVER was about college romance, FORBIDDEN has dealt with mid-life crisis in the modern era. FORGOTTEN will deal with a higher age-group of love emotion.
